Assembly – the journey from components to system supplier

The needs of our customers stimulate the development of Swedish Powertrain. Customer demand for complex subsystems form the background of our efficient assembly lines.

Assembled subsystems

Some assembled subsystems that we deliver to the heavy commercial industry include:

  • Retarders
  • Power take offs (PTOs)
  • Planetary carriers
  • Propeller shafts
  • Axle Hub reductions
  • Exhaust manifolds
  • Bearing carriers

Assembly processes

The term assembly can comprise a wide variety of processes:

  • Manual, semi-automatic and fully-automatic assemblies
  • Joining
  • Pressing
  • Shrinking
  • Sealing
  • Welding (MIG/MAG and friction welding)
  • Balancing
  • Painting
  • Aluminum thermal spraying
  • Testing (leakage tests, functional tests)

Flexible assembly volumes

Assembly volumes start from as low as a few hundred units per year. On the other end of the spectrum we deliver around 100 000 propeller shafts per year to a premium heavy truck OEM. Deliveries are made to three different truck assembly plants and during eight years we have had a delivery precision of 100% against a Just-In-Sequence (JIS) requirement from the customer!

Customer benefit

By expanding our involvement in the value chain we constantly increase our competence regarding the function of subsystems and also regarding the demands on the in-going components that we manufacture. In the form of co-engineering projects we contribute to improve these components which leads to increased benefits for our customers.
